WATCH: Shocking CCTV footage of armed robber smashing up shop with hammer
The incident occurred last month, and police have just released the video as part of their appeal for information.
A man dressed in a black hoodie with his face concealed, wearing camouflage trousers and workmen’s boots walked into the Co-op store on Grasmere Road armed with a hammer at around 9.40pm on October 14.

Hide AdHe yelled at staff to open the tills and put money in a carrier bag, and smashed the counter and tills with a hammer.
The robber then made off with money and a number of scratch cards that were either used or cashed in.
He then fled the store and road off on a grey bicycle in the direction of Longmoor Lane.
The man was white, about 5ft 7ins, of large build and thought to be aged between 20 and 30.

Hide AdDetectives investigating the robbery want to hear from anyone who recognises the man’s clothing, which is quite distinctive.
