Raceline: Tip of the Day 30th November
Friday 30th November
DYNASTE
Newbury 2.05 WIN
I confess there is nothing original about the selection of the Martin Pipe-trained novice chaser in the big race of the day at Newbury. But I make no apology for it, given that the good-looking six-year-old proved at Cheltenham’s Open meeting earlier this month that he has made the transition from hurdles without turning a hair. The runner-up, Fingal Bay, is a prospect of the highest class and did nothing wrong. Yet Dynaste brushed him aside with contemptuous ease, tanking through the contest, jumping superbly, edging closer on the bridle and quickening clear once let loose from the final fence. He did receive 5lb from the Philip Hobbs rival, but that horse had a race-fitness/chase-experience advantage. Today, Dynaste faces a handful of very capable rivals, but if he stands up, it will be a major surprise if he is beaten.
